Morocco, in the person of Moulay Brahim Al Atmani, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mutuelle générale du Personnel des Administrations Publiques (MGPAP), was elected to the presidency of the executive office of the African Union of mutuality (UAM ) for the next four years.
The work of the General Assembly of the African Union of Mutual Funds, opened at the start of the day in Salé, under the theme “Social protection, a decisive project to guarantee social justice in Africa”, was marked in particular by the election of the members of the Executive Council and the Steering Committee of the UAM.
Thus, the executive office of the Union includes Moulay Brahim Al Atmani (president), the Senegalese Babakar Ngom (1st vice-president), the Malian Djikine Babassa (2nd vice-president), Tiomela Augustin (Cameroon-secretary general), Gnobo Paul (Ivory Coast – Deputy Secretary General), Mohamed Ahaimedou (Mauritania-Treasurer) and Mouigni Fatma (Comoros Islands – Deputy Treasurer).
Speaking at a press briefing held after the elections, Moulay Brahim Al Atmani hailed the strong participation of the various African States in the work of the UAM General Assembly, noting that their presence further confirms the pioneering role of Morocco in terms of social coverage, notably through the project to generalize social coverage, launched at the instigation of King Mohammed VI.
This stage, he continued, will see the establishment of new roadmaps and strategies aimed at achieving the primary objectives of the UAM, adding that this is a new era of collaboration between the different African mutuals.
It should be noted that the UAM, created in 2007 and based in Rabat, constitutes an instrument for networking the mutualist movement in Africa to defend and represent the common interests of the member organizations and provide first-rate technical assistance in terms of mutuality and in related fields.
