Morocco reacted strongly to the incursion of Israeli extremist groups and members of the Knesset (Israeli Parliament) into the esplanade of the Al Aqsa Mosque, thus undermining the sanctity of this high place of the Muslim religion.
The Kingdom condemns the approach of certain members of the government, the Knesset and Israeli extremists, and this new attack on the sanctity of the Al-Aqsa mosque and its esplanades” as part of the so-called flag march, a Foreign Ministry source said.
” The Kingdom of Morocco, whose King Mohammed VI chairs the Al-Quds Committee, considers these repeated practices a flagrant violation of the legal and historical status of the Holy City as enshrined in international legality.added the same source.
This new incursion into the sacred place has become a repetitive phenomenon that undermines the feelings of Muslims who demand peace in this disputed territory and respect for the three sacred religions.
The same source within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, added that these events are considered an “unacceptable provocation”, adding that it will result in “inflaming the feelings of Muslims, exacerbating tensions, undermining appeasement efforts in the occupied Palestinian territories and jeopardize the chances of peace in the region”.
According to the Palestinian news agency WAFA, nearly 400 Israeli settlers stormed the Esplanade of the Mosques on Thursday, invading the Mosque on the side of the Moroccan Gate (Bab Al Maghariba) by performing provocative tricks and Talmudic rituals.
