Inflation should stand at 1.2% for the whole of 2021 and settle at 1.6% in 2022, according to forecasts by Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM).
“After a relative acceleration to 1.6% on average in the second quarter of 2021 and to 2.2% in July, inflation returned to 0.8% in August in connection with the fall in the price of food products. volatile. In a context marked by the rise in the price of energy products, the recovery in domestic demand and the increase in imported inflation, it should stand at 1.2% for the whole of this year and stand at 1.6 % in 2022 ”, specifies BAM in a press release sanctioning the work of the third quarterly meeting of its Board for 2021, held on Wednesday.
The underlying component is expected to rise from 0.5% on average in 2020 to 1.4% in 2021 and reach 2.1% in 2022, the Central Bank said.
