Morocco and the Netherlands sign a “letter of intent”

The Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance and the Director of the Netherlands Police signed, on Tuesday in Rabat, a “letter of intent” defining the aspects and forms of bilateral cooperation in various fields security of common interest.

This agreement, which emanates from the common will to consolidate the relations of cooperation between the services of the National Security and the Surveillance of the national territory, on the one hand, and those of the Police of the Netherlands, on the other hand, aims to value and strengthen this collaboration, so as to face firmly and effectively the challenges arising from transnational organized crime and the threats linked to the danger of terrorism and violent extremism, indicates a press release from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).

The “letter of intent” constitutes, in fact, a “framework agreement” aimed at organizing and supporting bilateral cooperation, under which the two parties ensure the exchange of information and the strengthening of collaboration in the field of investigations. penal and police training, as well as the sharing of expertise, experience and knowledge relating to security action.

The signed letter also defines the scope of cooperation, which can be developed whenever the interest of both parties so requires, in the fight against terrorism and extremism, drug-related crime and illegal trafficking. firearms, financial and economic crimes, including the laundering of money from illicit activities, human trafficking and illegal immigration, in addition to cybercrime linked to new technologies, adds the same source.

In order to ensure the coordination of common efforts and to guarantee the efficiency and diligence of the cooperation between the two parties, a central focal point has been appointed at the level of the DGSN, as well as at the level of the Police of the Netherlands. Bas, with the mission of facilitating and expediting the exchange of correspondence, communications and requests necessary for bilateral cooperation.

The signing of this agreement, underlines the press release, provides information on the importance of bilateral and multilateral international cooperation in security matters, particularly in view of the growing scale of the transnational dimension of the multiple forms that organized crime takes, as well as growing risks posed by the global terrorist threat.
