Three cooperation agreements in the field of transport were signed Monday in Rabat between Morocco and Israel.
These agreements, which relate to maritime transport, the reciprocal recognition of driving licenses and road safety, were initialed by the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Mohamed Abdeljalil, and the Israeli Minister of Transport and Road Safety, Miri Regev, on a working visit to the Kingdom at the head of a large delegation.
These are two intergovernmental conventions concerning cooperation in the field of maritime transport and the reciprocal recognition of driving licenses, as well as a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) concerning the development of technical cooperation in the field of security. roads and sustainable mobility.
“Today we signed three agreements concerning the recognition of driving licenses, cooperation in maritime transport and in the field of road safety,” Regev told reporters after the meeting. this interview, indicating that it was decided to set up a joint team dealing with issues relating to innovative technologies in transport, including intelligent traffic, drones and electric or autonomous cars.
For his part, Abdeljalil indicated that the Israeli minister’s visit to Morocco is an opportunity to promote cooperation relations between the two countries, adding that the two parties will work for the activation of the agreements signed previously and those signed today. today.
He stressed, in this wake, that Moroccan-Israeli cooperation relations should be further strengthened during his next visit to Israel, scheduled for next September.
On the sidelines of the signing of these agreements, the two ministers expressed their satisfaction with the level of development of relations in a short time as well as their desire to strengthen and further develop a bilateral cooperation framework in the various areas of common interest. .
Discussions also focused on the promotion of cooperation in the field of rail transport and high-speed lines, the development of airport infrastructure, logistics platforms and smart mobility (traffic management, autonomous vehicles, smart traffic lights , technologies in transport).
The two parties also discussed the development of air frequencies between the two countries with a view to encouraging tourism between Morocco and Israel, digitalization in transport, as well as encouraging the private sector and start-ups to invest in the field of transport.
The Israeli minister’s working visit is part of the intense exchange between the two ministries since the meeting of the two parties in May 2022 in Germany.
Regev’s visit program includes a thematic voyage aboard Al Boraq to Tangier, a visit to the port of Tangier Med as well as holding meetings with senior Moroccan officials.
