Three prominent organizations in the Casablanca-Settat region have jointly called for a protest in front of the French embassy in Rabat on the upcoming Friday to oppose what they perceive as “President Macron’s intervention” in the internal affairs of the Kingdom of Morocco.
The Moroccan Organization for Citizenship and the Defense of Territorial Unity, the National Observatory for Royal Youth and Media, and the National Council of Green March Volunteers said in a collective statement obtained by MoroccoLatestNews that “President Macron’s attempts to address the Moroccans represent a blatant interference in Moroccan internal affairs.”
They underline the Moroccan people’s rejection of Macron’s efforts to politicize a natural disaster that saw Moroccans display remarkable spontaneous solidarity with their compatriots affected by an earthquake.
The joint statement calls upon all political and union entities, the general Moroccan populace, and Moroccans worldwide to participate in a demonstrations on Friday, September 22, at 4:00 PM, in response to what they perceive as provocations by the French head of state. They also emphasize the need to fortify the internal front and exercise vigilance to thwart Macron’s alleged plans.
The signatories of the statement urge all social, economic, and civil society actors to mobilize in boycotting French products and leverage their resources to pressure the French president into issuing an apology to the Moroccan leadership.
