Amid the Gaza tragedy that affects not only civilians but also journalists, Moroccan media professionals for the Palestine initiative urges for a sit-in which will take place on Monday 30 in front of the Moroccan Parliament, Rabat, according to an official statement.
Under the slogan “Assassinations of journalists, a crime against the truth,” Moroccan media professionals for the Palestine initiative “denounce the Zionist occupation crimes against journalists.”
This sit-in comes following “the continuing aggressions and the barbarian attacks perpetrated by the Zionist occupation forces, deliberately pursuing its ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian population and targeting journalists,” according to the official statement.
The call aims to condemn these assassinations that “they consider as an attack on the right to information, on freedom of the press and on journalism, all guaranteed by international law and the charter for the safety of journalists working in conflict zones,” according to the Moroccan media professionals for the Palestine initiative statement.
This sit-in is envisioned also to “remind the international community that Moroccan media professionals condemn normalization and denounce the Zionist aggression of Palestinians,” included the statement.
The Moroccan media professionals for Palestine initiative expressed their worries over the potential of the number of assassinated journalists to surge if the international community remains silent and Israel continues the bombing attacks on Gaza.
So far, more than 20 Arab journalists have been killed in Gaza, 5 injured, and 2 missing.
