Moroccan-German cooperation thwarts terrorist plot, captures German-Egyptian suspect

With the assistance of Moroccan security services, Germany has successfully disrupted a terrorist plot, apprehending a German-Egyptian national on Tuesday suspected of planning a series of attacks, including a truck bomb assault.

The individual in question, a 29-year-old German of Egyptian heritage believed to have resided in Duisburg, had a documented history as a veteran of the Islamic State terrorist organization in Syria and Iraq. He had devised several terror plots for execution within Germany, notably a truck bomb attack using explosives.

This collaboration was facilitated by Moroccan security and intelligence services, which promptly conveyed the identity and profile of the alleged German-Egyptian terrorist suspect.

Morocco  supplied German authorities with essential personal information, photographs, and contact details, which enabled German police to apprehend the suspect in Essen.

The DGST has a track record of foiling various terrorist schemes and identifying  backers of extremist causes. This highlights Morocco’s continued significance as a pivotal partner in the global counterterrorism effort.
