Morocco’s national football team defeated Burkina Faso 1-0 in a friendly match at France’s Bollert-Delilies stadium in Lens. Azzedine Ounahi scored Morocco’s winning goal in the 37th minute of the first half. Moroccan fans showed support for the Al Haouz province earthquake victims with solidarity banners, and both teams wore black armbands.
Moroccans, with the help of associations “Alides de Levin” and “Souss Initiatives (92),” collected donations for earthquake victims. Proceeds from the match were allocated to aid the earthquake’s consequences in Morocco.
Media activities for the match were canceled due to a national mourning period declared by King Mohammed VI following the earthquake in Al Haouz.
