UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed will pay a state visit to France next week where he will be hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron. The visit takes place in a context of closer ties between the two countries but above all of the energy crisis.
From Monday, Emmanuel Macron will welcome Monday at the Elysée the new president of the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed ben Zayed, nicknamed MBZ.
“For the two Heads of State, it will be a question of continuing to deepen the strategic partnership which unites the two countries, particularly in terms of security and defence, and the energies and technologies of the future”, explained the Elysée.
The two countries have strengthened their commercial and strategic ties in recent years and this state visit will confirm the strong ties” according to the Elysée.
During this visit, Mohammed ben Zayed will meet several French officials, and following the interview with Emmanuel Macron, a State dinner will be held in the prestigious setting of the Grand Trianon, in the park of the Palace of Versailles.
Their goal will also be to “strengthen an already dense bilateral relationship”, particularly in investments or culture, to discuss the means of “responding to the global energy crisis” and “joint efforts” for “regional stability and security”, added the French presidency.
Several topics of common interest can be discussed between the two leaders, the main of which will be related to energy, especially since the euro fell below the dollar for the first time since its creation 20 years ago.
This is a source of concern for Europeans who fear a sharp recession in the coming months due to the war between Ukraine and Russia. France and the European countries have an interest in finding other sources of hydrocarbons than Russia while freeing up the production of black gold even more, in order to lower the inflation which affects the whole world.
The United Arab Emirates have been asked several times by Paris during the visit of the head of diplomacy, as well as other Gulf countries to produce more oil.
