Croatian midfielder Luka Modric, 37 in September, has extended his contract at Real Madrid until June 30, 2023, the Madrid club announced in a statement on Wednesday.
The Croatian veteran had already extended for a season in the summer of 2021, but his tireless physique and his performances still at the top allowed him to extend the adventure within the “White House”, freshly crowned in the Champions League.
This season, the 2018 Ballon d’Or has played 45 matches, scored three goals and provided twelve assists. His outside of the foot for Rodrygo’s goal, during the incredible reversal of the situation against Chelsea (2-3 after extra time), notably marked the spirits in the quarter-final second leg of the Champions League.
Arrived at Real in 2012 from Tottenham for 35 M EUR, Modric was decried for a time, before asserting himself as a legend. He has since played 436 matches in the white tunic, two less than Cristiano Ronaldo.
