Mezzour: The improvement of the trader’s situation at the center of the ministry’s concerns

The Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, affirmed that the improvement of the trader’s situation is at the center of the ministry’s concerns, by helping and accompanying him to benefit from health and social coverage and by integrating it into the digitization process.

Speaking on the occasion of the celebration of National Trader’s Day, organized from June 21 to 24 at the initiative of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region (CCIS-RSK ), Mezzour underlined that the trader plays a fundamental social role by providing a set of services which contribute to revitalizing the economic fabric, in particular at the local level, thus making his accompaniment a sine qua non condition for the success of the programs of the ministry, especially in terms of digitization and social protection.

After having mentioned certain issues in relation to the implementation of social protection and digitization projects and the means of dealing with them through the proposals and aspirations of traders, the Minister explained that a set of actors from the public or private sectors, will be at the service of the merchant to help him diversify and strengthen the services he provides within the framework of partnerships with private companies and public sector actors.

In this regard, Mazzour welcomed the significant mobilization of traders for the implementation of the social security coverage project, adding that 50% of the recommendations of the Moroccan Trade Forum, held in Marrakech in April 2019, go in the direction of the tax justice and health coverage.

He himself reiterated the importance of allowing the trader to integrate into the modern distribution network and to find ways to integrate into the chain of networks to buy goods at low prices.

For his part, the President of the CCIS-RSK, Hassan Sakhi, indicated that in accordance with the Royal Directives aimed at generalizing social coverage to all professionals and affiliates, the Chamber, in coordination with the most representative organizations and the departments concerned, has contributed to the success of this important project for the adhesion of a large number of beneficiaries.

On the other hand, he underlined the great importance of digitization to improve the development of traders’ activities, to ensure their support and the modernization of their trade in order to diversify their income, develop their turnover and improve their competitiveness, recalling that this will only be possible by mobilizing the efforts of all the players concerned.

And to conclude that the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of the region will spare no effort to ensure the success of the digitization workshops, in parallel with the rest of the projects and sites in progress, including economic mapping, rehabilitation of industrial zones and the creation of training institutes and project incubators.

On this occasion, two framework partnership agreements were signed between the CCIS-RSK and institutional partners from the public and private sectors.

The celebration of National Trader’s Day, under the aegis of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, is part of efforts aimed at promoting and supporting internal trade, modernizing the sector and accelerating of its digitization.
