Marrakesh monuments to remain partially open for visitors

Morocco’s Minister of Culture Mehdi Bensaid conducted a field visit to historical sites in Marrakech, Al Haouz, and Ouarzazate, to assess the damage caused by the recent earthquake.

During his inspection of the Badi Palace, Bensaid emphasized the importance of preserving Morocco’s cultural, tourist, and economic heritage by rebuilding the historical landmarks affected by the earthquake.

He also noted that some of the ancient palaces in Marrakesh, like Bahia and Badi Palaces, will remain partially open to visitors, contributing to the gradual return of tourism to the city.

However, Bensaid highlighted that the rebuilding of the severely damaged Tinmal Mosque in the Al Haouz region is a priority, involving cooperation between various government entities.
