Marrakech acquires the 1st radio telescope in Morocco

The Atlas Golf Cultural Center in Marrakech has just acquired a radio telescope, the first of its kind in Morocco.

According to the Center, the mission of this radio telescope is to capture radio waves emitted by the sun, regions of star formations, the quasar and the nuclei of galaxies, as well as to carry out cosmological studies. It offers a new disciplinary field in sciences of the universe opens up to specialists in astronomy in Morocco.

The center also houses various instruments for the observation of celestial objects, including the largest telescope in Morocco (600 mm in diameter) in addition to two other telescopes, including one 350 mm in diameter and a second 355 mm in diameter, a Coronado telescope dedicated to the observation of the protuberances and filaments of the sun, as well as a siderostat which makes it possible to project the real image of the sun continuously.
