Maroc Telecom achieves a consolidated turnover of more than 26.78 billion dirhams at the end of September 2021

The Maroc Telecom Group achieved, at the end of September 2021, a consolidated turnover (turnover) of more than 26.78 billion dirhams (billion dirhams), down 2.6% (-2.1% at constant exchange rate) compared to the same period a year ago.

The good momentum in International activities and Fixed Data in Morocco partially offsets the decline in revenues from mobile services in Morocco, Maroc Telecom said in a press release, noting that in the third quarter of 2021 alone, consolidated sales shows almost stability (-0.5% at constant exchange rates), driven by the growth achieved by the subsidiaries over the quarter (+ 2% at constant exchange rates).

Revenues from activities in Morocco amounted to nearly MAD 14.88 million over the first nine months of 2021, down 5.4% penalized by the decline in mobile services, the press release noted, noting that the continued growth of the Data Fixed (+ 7.8%) reduced the effects of the underperformance of Mobile, which continues to be impacted by the competitive and regulatory environment.

Maroc Telecom also reports that revenue from Mobile activities is down 9.2% due to the drop in outgoing and incoming revenue, noting that incoming revenue continues to suffer from the drop in national call terminations. while outgoing revenues are affected by the regulatory and competitive environment.

Thus, the mixed ARPU (prepaid and postpaid), which is defined as the turnover (generated by incoming and outgoing calls and by data services) net of promotions, excluding roaming and equipment sales, divided by the average fleet for the period, amounted to 49.5 dirhams, down 10.2% over one year.

The press release notes that the Fixed-line and Internet activities in Morocco achieved a turnover of nearly MAD 7.06 million at the end of September, a slight decrease of 0.5% compared to the same period of 2020. Growth of 7.8% Fixed Data largely compensates for the drop in voice.

As for the group’s international activities, they are continuing to grow, achieving a turnover of over MAD 12.67 million, up 1.3% at the end of September 2021 (+ 2.3% at constant exchange rates. Mobile and Mobile Money services remain the main growth drivers, posting respective increases of + 17.4% and + 24.1%.

In the third quarter of 2021, the Maroc Telecom Group was able to preserve the performance of its activities despite a restrictive health environment, the press release said, noting that the performance of the subsidiaries enabled it to post resilient results, thus reinforcing its strategy of international development.

The Group capitalizes on the quality of its networks, which it continues to strengthen to support the development of its customers’ data usage and provide exemplary quality of service, adds the same source.
