Manufacturing industries: IP down 2.3% in Q1-2022

The High Commission for Planning (HCP), reported that the index of production of manufacturing industries excluding oil refining recorded a drop of 2.3% during the first quarter of 2022 (Q1-2022) compared to the same period of the previous year.

In its recent note relating to the index of industrial, energy and mining production (IPIEM), the HCP specifies that this development results in particular from the drop in the index of production of the “chemical industry” from 8.6 %, that of the “food industries” by 1.3%, that of the “manufacture of electrical equipment” by 3.4%, that of the “manufacture of rubber and plastic products” by 3.2 %, that of the “automotive industry” by 2.6%, that of the “clothing industry” by 1.6% and that of the “textile industry” by 2.3% .

On the other hand, the “pharmaceutical industry” index increased by 9.9%, that of “metallurgy” by 1.5%, that of “furniture manufacturing” by 5.0% and that of of the “manufacture of beverages” by 0.9%, adds the same source.

Furthermore, the index of production of extractive industries fell by 10.1%, resulting from the drop in the index of production of “miscellaneous products of extractive industries” by 10.6% and the increase that of “metallic ores” by 1.2%.

The electrical energy production index recorded, for its part, an increase of 4.2% in Q1-2022.
