The UEFA Disciplinary Committee announced on Friday the decision to suspend Manchester City defender Kyle Walker for three Champions League games following his red card against RB Leipzig on December 7.
The English international, we recall, was sent off in the 82nd minute of the match lost by the Citizens 2-1 after a foul on striker Andre Silva.
Walker will therefore not be able to participate in the first leg matches, on February 15, and return matches, on March 9, of the round of 16 of this same C1 against Sporting Lisbon.
He will also miss the first meeting of the quarter-finals if Man City qualify.
“The red card handicaps us, especially for the 16th. Kyle Walker is an important player for us and it was not necessary to lose him like that,” commented Catalan City coach Pep Guardiola.
