World football star Lionel Messi made his debut on Friday night for his new club Inter Miami in a League Cup match against Mexico’s Cruz Azul.
The 36-year-old world champion, who started on the bench, came on in the 54th minute of the match played in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
His former FC Barcelona teammate Sergio Busquets also made his debut for the American team during this meeting.
This match was played as part of the Leagues Cup, a new summer tournament that brings together teams from the North American and Mexican championships.
Several celebrities attended the first appearance of the sevenfold Golden Ball with Inter Miami, including LeBron James, Gloria Estefan, Serena Williams and Marc Anthony.
