Libya is grateful to Morocco for its efforts to unify the country and to close the ranks of the Libyans. This recognition was expressed Monday by the head of the government of national unity in Libya, Abdelhamid Dbeibah.
Speaking at a press conference after an interview with the Chief Executive, Saad Eddine El Otmani, the Libyan official recalled the divisions had made a whole people suffer, and that Morocco did not ‘spared no effort to overtake them.
“We suffered during the previous period of divisions” and Skhirat was a meeting place for the different components of the Libyan people, said Dbeibah, before adding: “We are grateful to Morocco, King, government and people, d ‘to have united the Libyans in Bouznika, Skhirat and Tangier ”.
In this sense, he praised the efforts made by Morocco, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, to support the Libyan cause and support the organization of elections and the political and economic process in Libya.
The Libyan official also expressed the will to develop economic relations and investments and to promote tourist activity between the two countries, wishing the lifting as soon as possible of restrictions on the movement of Libyans and Moroccans between the two states.
El Otmani, for his part, expressed his pride to receive the head of the government of national unity in Libya, underlining the relations of fraternity, as well as the historical, social and political ties uniting the two countries.
The visit of Abdelhamid Dbeibah at the head of a large delegation tends to develop relations at all levels, he said, reiterating the Kingdom’s readiness to strengthen them further pending the holding of the Libyan elections and of the success of this political stage.
Morocco can only support any consensual solution in Libya, adding that the Libyans remain masters in their decisions, he said.
