The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Khalid Ait Taleb, kicked off on Tuesday the activities of the psychiatry department at the Provincial Hospital Center (CHP) Hay Mohammadi in Casablanca.
Set up as part of the partnership between the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and the wilaya of greater Casablanca, the service is built on a total area of 1125 m2, including 746 m2 covered, for a total budget estimated at 7 million dirhams.
It consists of an outpatient unit, an emergency unit, two hospitalization units, including one dedicated to men and another for women with a litter capacity of 19 beds, in addition to two isolation rooms for disturbed patients. The service also includes a pharmacy, two restaurants, two courtyards, a shower room and other units.
A medical and paramedical staff specializing in mental and mental health, comprising two doctors and 22 nurses, in addition to technical and administrative staff, has been mobilized to provide the services of this establishment, for which the external psychiatry unit will cover the follow-up of approximately 5,000 patients.
As a result, the supply of psychological and mental health care will be strengthened in the Casablanca-Settat region, which will allow better access to hospital services for patients, and will alleviate their suffering as well as that of their families.
During this launch, which takes place in application of the royal instructions relating to the reform and rehabilitation of the health sector, and the establishment of universal health coverage, the minister was accompanied by the governor of the prefecture of the Ain Sebâa- Hay Mohammadi.
