Launch of the 2nd edition of the Nojoum National Theater Improvisation League (LNIN)

After the great success of the 1time edition of the National League of Theatrical Improvisation Nojoum (LNIN) last year, the Ali Zaoua Foundation is launching this month the second edition organized under the direction of actor and director Ismail El Fallahi. This competition will oppose twenty teams across four regions of Morocco namely the regions of Grand Casablanca-Rabat, Tangier-Tétouan, Agadir-Souss and Fès-Meknes.

The start of the qualifiers was given on Sunday April 11 on the stage of the theater of the cultural center ” The Stars of Sidi Moumen », transformed for the occasion into an ice rink. Every weekend, each city of the Morocco Stars network will host ” playoff games “Until the stage of the regional final which will designate the winners of the 4 participating regions, the Foundation informed in a press release sent to Hespress Fr.

The latter will compete for the title of “ Best team of improvisers “Next October on the occasion of the opening of the new cultural center” The Stars of Jamaâ El Fna » in Marrakech. Something to delight the public who will attend new and original shows on this occasion, say the organizers. Quoted in the press release, Ismail El Fallahi, Director of LNIN explained that “ this year, the LNIN knows the participation of 120 professional and semi-professional actors selected at the end of a national casting organized from 1er to February 14, 2021 in four major regions of the country “.

The winners of the casting, continues the same source, will then benefit from a training in theatrical improvisation techniques provided by Ismail El Fallahi and other actors and regional speakers of great caliber such as Hassan El Allioui (Agadir), Abdelali Fahim (Fez) and Mouhsine Hamoud (Tangier).

Initiated by the Ali Zaoua Foundation, the main objective of this project is to promote theatrical improvisation and to make “ improv matches »A discipline in its own right in Morocco, as is already the case in several countries abroad. “ Theatrical improvisation offers the actor the possibility of fulfilling several missions by being at the same time a director, scenographer, playwright and actor. This discipline appeals to the creativity of actors but also to their sense of listening and exchange. Three elements that are developed over time»Ismail El Fallahi clarified.

On stage, the improviser or the team performs in front of an audience without predefined text or pre-prepared staging, according to a given time and according to what inspires him the subject imposed by the referee underlines the Foundation, noting that it is there the challenge posed to the participants and the pleasure felt by the public which is held in suspense during all this time.

Throughout this competition which will last almost 2 months, the League will receive national and international artists who will perform and participate in matches. Others will be there to put on the costume of the referees or coaches, the same source specifies. ” Unfortunately for this edition and because of the Covid-19 pandemic, public access will be limited during the competitions, but we have set up a live streaming system so that all fans of improvisation can follow us on social networks “Concluded Ismail El Fallahi, quoted in the press release.
