As part of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Dominican Republic and under the leadership of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Santo Domingo, Barid Al-Maghrib and the Dominican Postal Institute (INPOSDOM ) jointly issued postage stamps representing two emblematic historical monuments of the two countries, namely the “Kasbah of the Oudayas” in Rabat and the facade of the “Alcázar de Cólon” located in Santo Domingo.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad said in a statement Thursday that this joint philatelic issue, which illustrates the excellence of the relations of cooperation and friendship uniting the two countries, has been launched during a virtual ceremony this Thursday, attended by the Directors General of Barid Al-Maghrib, Mr. Amin Benjelloun Touimi and the Dominican Postal Institute, Adán Peguero as well as the Ambassador of His Majesty the King in the Dominican Republic, Zakaria El Goumiri.
On this occasion, Zakaria El Goumiri and Adán Peguero proceeded to the signature and the exchange of the plates of stamps issued by the two postal institutions and which consist of 500 copies each, specifies the press release.
For Zakaria El Goumiri, “this joint philatelic show celebrates the alliance, the collaboration and the determination of the two countries to build a close and lasting partnership”, reports the same source. He also considered that this initiative is an “indelible testimony of the nature and the value that the Kingdom of Morocco attaches to its relations with the Dominican Republic”, and hopes, through it, “to promote a significant rapprochement between the two peoples through a symbolic invitation to travel and discover the historical and cultural heritage of the two countries, ”the ministry concluded.
