Landings of marketed coastal and artisanal fishing products reached 422,205 tonnes (T) for the first five months of this year, down 11% compared to the same period of 2022, according to the National Fisheries Office ( WE P).
In value, these landings show an increase of 6% to more than 4.41 billion dirhams (MMDH), specifies the ONP in its recent report on the statistics of coastal and artisanal fishing in Morocco.
By species, landings of cephalopods, pelagic fish and shellfish decreased respectively by 21% to 28.142 T, 13% to 342.644 T and 41% to 91 T, while landings of seaweed, crustaceans and white fish decreased. posted increases of 81%, 30% and 16% respectively.
Per port, a total of 7,767 T of coastal and artisanal fishing products were landed in Mediterranean port entries at the end of May 2023, down 9% compared to the same period a year earlier. In terms of value, these ports recorded an increase of 6% to 303.571 million dirhams (MDH).
For their part, landings at the ports located on the Atlantic decreased by 11% to 414,438 T and increased, in value, by 6% to more than 4.108 billion dirhams.
