Lamine Yamal, a Barcelona player of Moroccan origin, has become the youngest football player in La Liga history to attain a market value of EUR25 million, at 16 years old, according to Transfermarkt, a platform specializing in player data and statistics.
Yamal, now the youngest player to start a match in the Spanish League, made his debut during the recent match between Barcelona and Cadiz last Sunday.
Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez praised Yamal during the press conference that followed last Sunday’s victory of the Catalan team.
“We need to take care of him, he’s a talent and ready to be important in the team”, Xavi told reporters.
