Some 136 candidates for illegal emigration have been arrested in recent days in the province of Laâyoune, during the abortion of several departure operations in the Canary Islands, we told local authorities.
Thus, the authorities failed on Saturday an immigration attempt 28 km off the port of Laâyoune and arrested 52 candidates, including 09 women.
Two groups of migrants made up of 56 individuals, who were preparing to set sail, were arrested the next day in Laâyoune.
The security services also aborted on the same day two attempts at illegal immigration in the commune of Foum El Oued, which led to the arrest of 28 candidates.
Hundreds of migrants, citizens of Morocco and sub-Saharan Africa, have been arrested in recent weeks in the Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra region thanks to the strengthening of control operations carried out by local authorities and various security services.
