La “Samir” case: Benali reports “scenarios under examination”

The Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali, said Monday in the House of Representatives that her department is examining the technical and economic scenarios to come up with appropriate solutions to the file of the oil refining company “Samir”. .

Speaking during a session of oral questions in the House of Representatives, the Minister specified that this is an investment file which must be handled in a reasonable manner, with the need to develop a clear vision in terms of management and taking into account the interests of the Moroccan State as a potential investor, the workforce of the company and the inhabitants of the city of Mohammedia.

And to add that the “Samir” file is characterized by “unprecedented complexity”, given the accumulation of problems over more than 20 years, which led to a stoppage of the “Samir” refinery, the transmission of the file to justice and the judicial liquidation, with the continuation of its activity under the supervision of the trustee and a judge-commissioner.

Leila Benali also said that the national energy ecosystem has not recorded any dysfunction in the energy supply, the needs of the national market having been fully satisfied.

The only material, which experienced a malfunction during this year, is natural gas, she noted, welcoming the government’s efforts which have made it possible to solve this problem and ensure the supply of natural gas and this, in record time and despite the unprecedented global crisis.
