King Mohammed VI welcomed the “singular” management of the covid-19 pandemic by Morocco, and the progress made in compulsory health coverage.

“We overcame this difficult situation through singular management,” said the Sovereign in his speech addressed to the Nation on Saturday, on the occasion of the Throne Day.

Morocco has been a pioneer in sourcing vaccines against the coronavirus despite their expensive cost, and making them available to all Moroccans and foreigners residing in Morocco free of charge.

Morocco has ensured during this period of crisis, a regular and sufficient supply of basic necessities in all regions of the country, despite border closures or confinement.

Vulnerable people, socially and economically affected have received direct material aid and the State has borne the exorbitant cost of this fight against the pandemic, by helping the sectors affected by the crisis.

In this sense, the King recalled the implementation of the major project for the generalization of social protection and the upgrading of the health system, as well as the launch of several projects aimed at achieving health sovereignty and ensuring the safety and security of citizens.

In less than a year, the number of self-employed workers and the number of their families benefiting from AMO passed the six million mark of members and at the end of the current year, the mandatory health coverage will be completed, extending to RAMED beneficiaries, said King Mohammed VI.

The Sovereign also called for the “diligent operationalization” of the Unified Social Registry, considered the main mechanism for granting effective support, and expressed his determination to implement the draft gradual generalization of family allowances, “in accordance with the agreed schedule”.

This solidarity project of national interest, he explained, will benefit about 7 million children, in particular those who belong to poor families or in precarious situations and 3 million households without school-aged children.
