“Your Majesty King Mohammed VI, Amir Al Mouminine, may God assist Him, sent a Letter to the Head of Government concerning the revision of the Family Code.
This Royal Letter concretizes the Royal decision announced by HM the King in the Speech of the Throne of the year 2022 and reflects the High concern that the Sovereign, whom God Glorifies, continues to grant to the promotion of women’s and family issues in general.
In parallel with the mission entrusted by His Majesty the King, may God preserve Him, the Head of Government, through this Letter, the Sovereign entrusted the steering of the preparation of this important reform, in a collective and collegial manner, to the Ministry of Justice, the Superior Council of the Judiciary and the Presidency of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, in view of the centrality of the legal and judicial dimensions of this issue.
His Majesty the King called on the aforementioned institutions to closely associate with this reform the other bodies directly concerned by this issue, at their head, the Upper Council of the Uléma, the National Council for Human Rights, the Government Authority in charge of solidarity, social integration and the family, while also opening up to civil society bodies and actors, researchers and specialists.
The Royal High Instructions stipulate to submit the proposals for amendments that will emanate from these broad participatory consultations to the High Appreciation of HM the King, Amir Al-Mouminine, the guarantor of citizens’ rights and freedoms, within a maximum of six months, before the government draft law on this subject is drawn up and submitted to parliament for adoption”.
