On the instructions of King Mohammed VI, the Kingdom of Morocco, chairman of the current session of the Council of the League of Arab States at ministerial level, called on Sunday for “an emergency meeting of the Council at the level of Arab foreign ministers”, following the deterioration of the situation in the Gaza Strip.
The aim of this meeting at Arab League Council level should be “to consult and coordinate on the deteriorating situation in the Gaza Strip and the outbreak of military action targeting civilians, as well as to seek ways of halting this dangerous escalation”, said a Foreign Ministry statement.
Intensive consultations are under way for the meeting to be held this week at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo, the same source added.
