US presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. has announced his bid as an independent candidate, abandoning his previous pursuit of the Democratic Party’s nomination.
Kennedy, a well-known anti-vaccine activist and scion of the Kennedy political dynasty, made the revelation via a YouTube video on Friday. In the video, he called on Americans to join him for a crucial announcement in Philadelphia on October 9, promising a “radical change in American politics” and condemning corruption within both major parties.
Kennedy’s decision comes after initially vying to challenge President Joe Biden for the Democratic nomination in April. He later lamented what he perceived as an undue alignment between the Democratic Party and the Biden campaign, claiming it deprived him of a fair shot in the nomination race.
