Al Jazeera correspondent in the Palestinian territories Shireen Abu Akleh was killed by Israeli gunfire while covering clashes in the Jenin area of the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian health ministry said on Wednesday.
According to the Palestinian Wafa News Agency, the journalist was killed in Jenin and another journalist was injured in the northern occupied West Bank. According to the same source, the journalist, accompanied by other colleagues, were near a school belonging to UNRWA.
A Palestinian journalist in her fifties, Shireen Abu Akleh had worked for “The Voice of Palestine” and Radio Monte-Carlo, before joining the al-Jazeera channel.
