Italy will open a new Visa services office in Morocco, to begin operating in February 2024 in Rabat, following an agreement signed by the Italian embassy in the capital.
The office will be operated by the worldwide visa-processing service provider, VFS Global.
According to media reports, the agreement was signed by Titanilla Tóth, Ambassador of Italy to Morocco, and Johan Virassamynaïck, Regional North Africa, VFS Global.
So far, Italy has five diplomatic representative offices in Morocco, namely, the embassy and consulates in Rabat, the consulate in Agadir, the consulate in Fes, as well as the consulate general and promotion center in Casablanca, and a consulate in Marrakech.
Italian visa applications from Moroccan nationals are becoming more popular, as 10,507 Moroccan nationals submitted visa applications to Italian embassies and visa centers last year, according to data from SchengenVisaInfo.com; 7,726 of those applications were granted while 2,582 were denied.
