Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s knee injury last weekend for AC Milan against Juventus will keep him out of the Swedish squad at Euro 2020, the Swedish FA announced on Saturday.
Big blow for Sweden which will have to do without the services of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, announced the Swedish FA. “He (Zlatan, editor’s note) announced to Janne Andersson that his injury prevented him from playing the Euro this summer. We hope to see him again soon on the grounds“, Can we read in the press release of the selection.
Ibra came out of international retirement in March after a hiatus of almost five years and was due to be part of the squad when Sweden is expected to start playing against Spain on June 14.
“It’s of course very sad, especially for Zlatan but also for us. I hope to see him back on the pitch as soon as possible ”, adds the press release.

The 39-year-old striker returned to Milan a year and a half ago, scoring 28 goals in 47 games with the club close to qualifying for the UEFA Champions League.
Sweden, coached by Janne Andersson, qualified for the Euro. Zlatan, who is the European country’s all-time top scorer with 62 goals, has not played for his country since Euro 2016.
In 2018, the country’s all-time top scorer said he wanted to return for the World Cup, but manager Janne Andersson wouldn’t call him.
