The results of the Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM) monthly business survey in industry for the month of May indicate a continued improvement in activity.
Thus, production would have increased in all branches of activity with the exception of “chemicals and parachemicals” and “electrical and electronics” where it would have rather fallen, specifies the Central Bank in its survey based on data collected between June 1 and June 30, 2022.
Under these conditions, the production capacity utilization rate (TUC) would have been 73%, adds the same source.
As for sales, they would have experienced stagnation, covering an increase in “mechanics and metallurgy” and in “electrical and electronics”, a drop in “textile and leather” and in “chemical and parachemical” and stagnation in the “agri-food” sector.
Orders would have increased in all branches of activity with the exception of “textiles and leather” and “electrical and electronics” where they would have stagnated. With regard to order books, they would have been at a lower level than normal in all branches with the exception of “agrifood” and “chemicals and parachemicals” where they would have settled at a normal level.
For the next three months, manufacturers expect an improvement in activity. However, 20% of them have no visibility as to the future development of production and 30% as regards sales.
