In a historic achievement, India has become the first nation to successfully land a spacecraft near the moon’s south pole.

The event took place at 6:04 local time as a lander carrying a rover touched down, eliciting jubilation from scientists gathered in Bengaluru.

After an unsuccessful attempt in 2019, India joins the ranks of the United States, the Soviet Union, and China in accomplishing a moon landing.
