Hicham Hajji is already working on his new film. The Moroccan director who has had notable success with “Redemption Day”, has decided to team up with successful DJ Black Coffee, for his new production “God Is A DJ”, on electronic music.
According to Deadline, “God Is A DJ” will follow a young Jewish man and a Moroccan imam “Who team up to form the least likely masked DJ duo – together the two overcome their mutual distrust to take on the EDM club circuit”.
Hajji describes the film as “A comedy set in the world of electronic music, with the mission of uniting the world. With a minority cast, the film aims to bring this niche music to the world through the minorities who understand it ”.
Black Coffee, whose real name is Nkosinathi Maphumulo, has established itself as Africa’s most fashionable electronic icon, thanks to its own productions and DJ sets, as well as collaborations with artists such as Usher, Drake and Jorja Smith. The South African DJ had already made Marrakech festival goers dance during the Oasis festival in 2018.
For his part, Hicham Hajji created his production company H FiLMS with the aim of bringing Hollywood closer to Morocco and helping to develop major productions in the region as well as the company’s own list of high profile products.
The Moroccan director has offices in Los Angeles and Morocco and oversees a multi-million dollar film fund.
