It’s decided ! After several press releases requesting the intervention of the Ministry of Health, which remained unanswered, the trade union coordination of health at the level of the region of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra decided to stop the work of health executives on Saturdays in anti-covid vaccination centers, from June 5.
This decision comes in a national context where health personnel have been mobilized to the front in the face of the pandemic since its onset, and the fatigue and stress that this has generated in them throughout this period, in addition to “sacrifices without no recognition and without even taking advantage of their legitimate and fundamental right, namely annual leave, ”indicates the union coordination made up of the FDT, UMT, UGTM, UNTM, ODT and SIMSP.
Thus, and with the aim of preserving the physical and psychological health of health executives (doctors, nurses and health technicians, etc.) and in order to guarantee the continuity of all the stages of vaccination at the level of the RSK region, the union coordination announced its attachment to the content of the communiques of all the provincial union offices, which had called for a work stoppage on Saturdays and holidays in all vaccination centers in the RSK region.
The union coordination denounces the practices of intimidation and harassment exercised by the management on health executives in order to force them to work outside legal working hours.
And finally, the same coordination calls on the supervisory departments to accelerate the payment of the second installment of the Covid-19 premium for the benefit of all health executives without discrimination.
It should be noted that this decision was taken by the unions of doctors and nurses and health technicians who had raised, at the beginning, and each on their own, the same demand which is to no longer work on Saturdays or even days. holidays.
In early May, the Independent Syndicate of Public Sector Doctors in Morocco (SIMSP) put this demand on the table after being forced to work on the second day of Aid El Fitr, Friday May 14, but also the following day which is on Saturday May 15, in all national anti-covid vaccination centers.
According to the union, this decision “ does not enjoy any legality, but aims to annihilate acquired rights, and legitimate claims that have not been realized“. In this sense, the union had asked the Ministry of Health to ” reverse this impromptu and hasty decision that overwhelms healthcare workers, already under continuous pressure from work “. The union had also called on its members “to refuse to comply with this illegal measure “.
For its part, the National Federation of Health affiliated to the UMT had demanded in a letter addressed to the Minister of Health, an official announcement of its supervision stipulating the cancellation of work on Saturdays in anti-covid vaccination centers.
The FNS had already seized the supervisory authority for this purpose but also to request the acceleration of the payment of compensation for overtime, food and travel to strengthen the capacities of vaccination centers as well as the improvement of working conditions. .
But in vain ! The Minister of Health, Khalid Ait Taleb has never followed up on this request.
