Between the first quarter of 2020 and that of 2021, the buildings and public works (BTP) sector created a total of 39,000 jobs at the national level, up 3.4%, said the High Commission for Planning. (HCP).
In an information note on the labor market situation in Q1-2021, the HCP explains this development by creating 38,000 jobs in urban areas and 1,000 in rural areas in this sector.
On the other hand, adds the High Commission, the sector of “agriculture, forest and fishing”, lost 231,000 jobs (-6.4%), following a drop of 254,000 in rural areas and an increase in 23,000 in urban areas, while that of “industry including crafts” fell by 48,000 jobs (25,000 in urban and 23,000 in rural), which corresponds to a drop of 3.6% in the volume of employment in this sector.
The share of craft activities in the industry sector is 43.7% against 47.4% in the first quarter of 2020, it is further specified.
The “services” sector has meanwhile created 42,000 jobs nationally (24,000 in urban areas and 18,000 in rural areas), recording a 1% drop in employment in this sector.
