Would BeIN Sports have made a radical decision regarding Hafid Derradji? The management of the Qatari channels could well dismiss the Algerian commentator from the round of 16 of the African Cup of Nations following his insulting remarks towards Morocco and Moroccan women.
Hafid Derradji is on the wire. The Algerian is unlikely to comment on any match of the round of 16 of the CAN 2021 on BeIN Sports. However, according to a source within the group, “no sanction has been officially announced”. But she does not rule out this hypothesis.
The controversy erupted when a Moroccan internet user shared a conversation between her and the beIN Sports commentator.
In this stormy exchange, after the elimination of Algeria against Côte d’Ivoire, Derradji would have affirmed that “the whole world knows that you (Morocco, editor’s note) are sons of bitches. When we say Moroccan, we say p**e and when we say Moroccan we say son of a p**e. The latest figures claim that 50% of Moroccans are bastards”, referring in particular to the mother of the captain of the Fennecs, Riyad Mahrez, who is of Moroccan origin.
A conversation that would be “fabricated from scratch” according to the principal concerned who totally rejected the accusations. Justifications which, it seems, were not sufficient on the Moroccan side, since the Lawyers’ Club in Morocco decided to rely on justice by filing a complaint against the commentator.
