It is a streak that did not go unnoticed during the meeting between the Moroccan selection and that of Guinea Bissau on Saturday. Several national team players were caught on camera giggling during the national anthem, sparking strong reactions on social media. The FRMF was quick to react to this incident, warning those mainly concerned.
The FRMF has taken note of the many negative reactions to the sequence where we see several players namely Anas Zniti, Soufiane El Karouani, Zakaria Aboukhlal and Samy Mmae laughing during the national anthem before Morocco’s match against Guinea Bissau as part of the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup and which ended with the victory of Mountakhab on Saturday at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Complex.
In this sense, several Internet users have called on the body to take disciplinary measures against the players, considering this action as a lack of respect and seriousness towards Morocco, its anthem, the selection and its supporters.
According to information from Hesport, the FRMF warned the players concerned who angered many supporters, urging them not to repeat the same behavior.
The Moroccan body underlined the need to invoke the spirit of responsibility during the performance of the national anthem because of the symbolism of the latter.
The same sources confirmed that the players concerned have expressed their regret over the incident, expressing their pride in wearing and defending the Moroccan jersey.
Zniti and his companions, who were on the bench at the time, explained that this behavior was not intended to degrade the value of the national anthem, unintentionally provoked at the same time.
