A fire, which broke out on Friday in the oasis of Ait Massoud in Tighmert (province of Guelmim), devastated several date palms, we learned from local authorities.

No casualties are to be deplored, but around 200 palm trees planted over an area of 2.5 ha were partially destroyed, the same source said.

The fire, which broke out around 1:40 p.m. in this oasis located in the town of Asrir, caused significant material damage, including a light car.

Three people fainted from the fumes and were rushed to the Guelmim regional hospital.

According to the same source, elements of the Civil Protection, Auxiliary Forces and the Royal Gendarmerie, with the help of the local authorities and the population, are continuing their efforts to bring the fire under control.
