The captain of the Gabonese football team, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (PEA), has announced his international retirement, and will no longer be part of the Panthers of Gabon.
In a letter addressed to the Gabonese Federation (Fegafoot), the member of Futbol Club Barcelona, wanted to thank all those who supported him. “After 13 years of pride in representing my country, I am announcing that I am ending my international career. I would like to thank the Gabonese people and all those who have supported me in good and bad times. I will keep a lot of good memories, ”he wrote without giving the reasons for his decision.
Fegafoot, for its part, hailed “the immense career and the regularity at the high level of the one who knew how to sell, thanks to his professionalism, the image of Gabon in the world”.
The Panthers of Gabon must now learn to live without their “PEA”, which will have scored 30 goals in 73 games with the selection, between 2009 and 2022.
And clearly, a whole page in the history of Gabonese football is closing.
