Four dead and 39 injured in an accident on the Marrakech-Agadir highway

Four people were killed and 39 injured in an accident Thursday morning on the Marrakech-Agadir highway near the rural town of Amskoroud.

The accident took place following a collision between a coach and a truck, said a source at the Regional Directorate of Health and Social Protection of Souss-Massa, indicating that the four people passed away on place, while the intervention of the authorities made it possible to urgently transfer 39 people to the Hassan II regional hospital in Agadir.

Ten injured are said to be in serious condition, while the other cases are still under observation after receiving first aid, the same source added in a statement to the press.

The authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of this new tragedy, which is added to the multiple road accidents which cost the lives of nearly 4,000 people per year, an average of 11 deaths per day.
