The former legend of Mouloudia club Oujda (MCO) and Moroccan international Mbarek El Filali died on Saturday at the age of 66, said the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).
Born in 1955, the late deceased in France, near Bordeaux, following a long illness, we learned from his relatives.
Mbarek El Filali has worn the colors of the national team on several occasions and is among the legends of the MCO, with which he won the national championship in 1975.
He was known to the Moroccan sporting public by the nickname “El Filali Sghir”, to distinguish him from his big brother Mohamed, one of Morocco’s stars at the 1970 Mexico World Cup.
Mbarek El Filali has achieved a remarkable sporting career, notably with a Botola title with the MCO in 1975 and 3rd place with the Moroccan selection at the African Cup of Nations organized in Nigeria in 1980, the year during which he was considered one of the best defenders on the continent for his speed, fighting spirit and physical form.
