Referee Bouchra Karboubi will be the first Moroccan woman to officiate a final of the Football Throne Cup, on the occasion of the duel for the title of the 2019-2020 season, which will oppose AS FAR to Moghreb de Tetouan, on Saturday next at the Grand Stade d’Agadir (4:00 p.m.).
Karboubi will be assisted by another female referee, Fatiha Jermoumi and Mustapha Akerkad, according to the Royal Moroccan Football Federation website.
The fourth referee will be Reddad Daki, while Redouane Jiyed, Yassine Bouslim and Abdessamad Abertoune will take care of the VAR, we learn from the same source.
Jermoumi, a native of the city of Oujda, was part, last January, of the refereeing corps which officiated matches during the 33rd African Cup of Nations. She was an assistant referee during the Gambia-Mali match, in addition to having been part of the team in charge of VAR during other matches, notably the Senegal-Egypt final (with Adil Zourak and Zakaria Brinsi).
Became a national referee in 2007, then an international referee in 2016, she made her continental baptism of fire during the 2018 women’s CAN, organized in Ghana, and the under-23 CAN in 2019 in Egypt, where she notably officiated the classification match for 3rd place.
To reach the final of the Throne Cup, AS FAR won, in the semi-finals, against Raja de Beni Mellal (1-0) at the big stadium in Agadir, while MAT beat Wydad Casablanca. on penalties (5-3, 2-2 regular time and overtime) at the Grand Stade de Marrakech.
