Fifteen Palestinians were killed and 55 others injured in Israeli raids on Friday in the Gaza Strip, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
The Palestinian Wafa news agency reports that Israeli aircraft carried out raids against the Gaza Strip, while artillery fired shells at farmland and positions in different parts of the Strip.
For its part, the Israeli army claimed that 15 people were killed in these air raids, specifying that the operation targeted the Islamic Jihad movement.
The Wafa agency indicates that the Israeli raids are still continuing on the strip, where reconnaissance and combat planes continue to fly over the area.
The Palestinian presidency condemned “Israeli aggression against Gaza” and demanded its immediate end, while holding “the occupation responsible for the dangerous escalation”.
The presidency also called on the international community to compel Israel to end the aggression against the Palestinian people everywhere, especially in Gaza, and to provide them with international protection.
For his part, Palestinian Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh denounced and condemned “Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip”, holding the Israeli occupation fully responsible for this dangerous escalation.
“We demand that the international community ensure the protection of our people and the immediate cessation of Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip,” he said in a statement.
