FIFM: The 24 projects and films selected for the 4th edition of the Atlas workshops unveiled

The Marrakech International Film Festival announced Thursday the 24 projects and films selected for the 4th edition of the Atlas workshops, which will take place in digital version from November 22 to 25, with the support of the Moroccan Cinematographic Center (CCM) and from Netflix, partners of the program since its creation in 2018.

The industry platform of the Marrakech International Film Festival’s mission is to support a new generation of Moroccan, Arab and African filmmakers and to expose them internationally, underlines the Festival Foundation in a press release, adding that for their 4th edition , the Atlas Workshops selected 15 projects in development and 9 films in post-production from among 250 applications received from the African continent and the Arab world.

This selection, the press release notes, presents new talents alongside filmmakers already noticed on the international scene, such as Laïla Marrakchi, discovered with Marock then Rock the Casbah, Amin Sidi Boumédiène revealed at the Critics’ Week of the Cannes Film Festival with his first film Abou Leila; Lemohang Jeremiah Mosese, winner at the Sundance Festival for his film This Is Not a Burial, It’s a Resurrection or Newton Aduaka, winner of the Fespaco Gold Standard for Ezra.

The 24 selected projects and films will benefit from tailor-made support by around fifteen script, production, distribution, editing and music consultants before being exhibited in a virtual co-production market bringing together nearly 350 accredited international professionals, specifies the same. source, adding that financial prizes totaling 56,000 € will be awarded, including the ArteKino Prize.

The Atlas Workshops will also present a series of round tables including a conversation with director Nabil Ayouch around his latest film Haut et Fort as well as a meeting with actress Hend Sabry who will discuss her new role as executive producer for her first Netflix series. At the same time, professionals will share their experience on targeted themes within the framework of the Atlas Station workspace, which will also offer personalized consultations in collaboration with Dox Box.
