MoroccoLatestNews has learned from officials that high-level contacts have been taking place for hours between Gianni Infantino, President of FIFA, Patrice Motsepe, President of CAF, and Fouzi Lekjaa, President of FRMF, to secure a direct flight from Rabat to the city of Constantine in Algeria, so that the Moroccan national team under 17 participates in the African Cup of Nations organized in Algeria, from next Saturday.
The same sources confirmed that the FIFA President and the CAF President had received positive signals from Algerian officials to secure a direct trip to the men’s national team to participate in the African Cup of Nations qualifier for the Cup. du Monde, while the official position of Algeria is still awaited.
The same sources indicated that the interventions of FIFA and CAF led to a preliminary solution, which resides in the displacement of the Moroccan delegation on a direct flight to Algeria, via a private FIFA plane.
And in the event that permission to travel directly from Rabat to Constantine is given, the Moroccan national under-17 team will travel to Algeria tomorrow, a day before the start of the African Cup of Nations.
Note that the Moroccan under-17 team was drawn in group B, alongside Nigeria, South Africa and Zambia.
