FC Barcelona loans Moroccan Chadi Riad to Betis with potential permanent transfer

In an exciting move, FC Barcelona has reached an agreement to loan the promising Moroccan footballer, Chadi Riad, to Betis for the duration of the 2023-2024 season, announced the club today, sparking enthusiasm among the Moroccan football community.

Chadi Riad, a 20-year-old talent, initially caught the attention of football scouts while playing for CD Atlético Rafal, RCD Mallorca, and CD San Francisco.

His exceptional skills and performance led to a significant breakthrough when he signed a three-year contract with FC Barcelona in February 2019.

Riad had his La Liga debut on November 8, 2022, when he replaced the goal scorer Pedri in a memorable match that saw Barcelona secure a 2-1 victory over CA Osasuna.

Riad’s talent has not gone unnoticed on the international stage either. He made his full international debut for Morocco last season, and his presence was felt as he contributed to the team’s success in winning the U23 African Cup of Nations this summer.

Under the guidance of Rafa Márquez, FC Barcelona’s current trainer, Riad became an indispensable asset to the team, making 37 appearances and netting three goals in the previous season. His consistent performance earned him the trust of the coaching staff and solidified his place as a key player.

To cement his future at the club, Riad recently extended his agreement with FC Barcelona through July 5, 2024. Furthermore, he has been promoted to the reserves in Primera Federación, a testament to the confidence the club has in his potential.

Notably, Riad’s impact was evident right from the start of the current season, as he played a pivotal role in Barcelona’s thrilling 3-2 home victory over CD Castellón, scoring the decisive match-winning goal on August 27.

With this loan to Betis, Riad will have the opportunity to further hone his skills and gain valuable experience in a different competitive environment. The move also opens up the possibility of a permanent transfer to Betis at the end of the loan period, adding an extra layer of excitement to this development.
