Thanks to artificial intelligence tools, it has become increasingly easy to create realistic images from a simple textual description.
On Reddit, some users have had fun creating images of historical events that never happened, using Midjourney, an AI-powered image generator.
These Internet users were able to invent historical events, such as the blue plague that occurred in Russia in the 1970s, the photos of which spread like wildfire on social networks.
These larger than life images showing soldiers spitting blue smoke were widely shared on the networks, and several Internet users took them as historical proof of the event.
It’s not the first time that fake images have made the rounds on the networks, last month, photos of Donald Trump being arrested by the police made the rounds.
The photos were taken by the same software, and were shared by several users who took them at face value because of their realism.
